Hagar Cygler is an artist from Tel Aviv who studied Photography at ‘Bezalel’ Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem in 2006. Through the course of her studies Hagar explored the materialistic boundaries of photography through paper itself by introducing elements of embroidery, printing, folding and more. Since her graduation, she has been working with different types of media (needlework, sculpture, ready-made's, silkscreen) but photography remains the core, although used mainly as a base for all other elements and not usually presented in its traditional way.
“The central theme that occupies my work is the way we choose to represent ourselves in photography and the connection to our perceptions and concepts of family in our culture,”- Cygler.
