Precious was born in Zimbabwe but grew up in Malawi. She moved to London to pursue her studies at the Camberwell College of Arts at the University of the Arts where she was receipt of a recipient of BA (Hons) Photography. Mhone creates work that is not based on any particular style of photography. Wanting to push the boundaries in her use of photography, she became interested in making work that had a bit more room for reckless abandon in the production process, one where error could lead to welcome surprises.
“Delving into the beauty of the scientific, cold nature of the camera and attempting to instill a sense of aura into the imagery, I would describe my practice, I think as existentialist. I document my thoughts in image as a simple attempt to solidify my existence, my footprint in the world through the process of image making,” – Mhone.
