| >>WELCOME NEW VISITING ARTISTS AT GREATMORE STUDIO’S CAPE TOWN Visiting period: January to March 2006: APPLY FOR: >> RESIDENCY AT GREATMORE STUDIOS– SOUTH AFRICA – DEADLINE : 18 FEBRUARY 2006 CALL FOR APPLICATIONSResident Artist Studio – March 2006 Vacancies for Resident Artist Studio available at Greatmore Studios in Woodstock, Cape Town, from March 2006 Greatmore Studios responds to the needs of the Art Community in Cape Town by providing individual studios within an interactive environment, to a cross section of mid career artists who have chosen art making as their career. The studios are rented as private spaces in which to work on a full time basis. The studio ethos is one of co-operation and interaction. Studio space and interaction with a broader community of artists is necessary to ensure a professional attitude towards work that is being created. The Greatmore Studios address a further need for the community of Cape Town to integrate within a meeting place where art is seen with the respect it deserves. Greatmore Studios are situated in Woodstock, in two semi-detached Victorian cottages, close to the city and accommodate up to fourteen artists. At least eight of these are mid-career artists from a cross-section of Cape Town's communities. Other studios are set aside to accommodate younger artists who are committed to their career in art making, but need guidance from working with established artists. Three studios are set aside for visitors from other parts of South Africa, Africa and abroad. The well-lit studios are equipped and contained so that artists can focus on their work. In addition, artists have access to a printing studio, woodblock printing press, workbenches, outdoor sculpture spaces and a resource centre. Computer facilities are available and administrative support is provided for the duration of the residency. All resident artists are required to take part in one outreach program and to hold an open studio day and one exhibition per year. Should you be interested in applying, please find our Residency Application form and further information on the following link: http://www.greatmoreart.org/apply_for_residency.htm Applications should reach the selection committee of Greatmore Studios by 18 February 2006.
