TRIANGLE TRUST

Triangle Arts Trust was founded by sculptor Sir Anthony Caro and Robert Loder in 1982. It is a registered charity in the United Kingdom.
The Trust initiates and facilitates an international network of artists workshops, residencies and studio buildings, which enables artists to work together in order to exchange ideas and practice. Workshop open days, residency open studios and exhibitions give audiences an opportunity to see a wide range of international art works and gain insights into the processes of art making.

The first Triangle workshop took place in New York in 1982. It brought together a group of artists from a variety of countries and backgrounds for two weeks to focus together on the process of making art. The intense experience of the workshop was such a major influence on the creative development of the participating artists that many of them initiated workshops in their own countries. The first of such developments was the Thupelo Workshop established by Bill Ainslie and David Koloane in South Africa in 1985.

Greatmore Studios and the Thupelo workshops form part of the Triangle Network. Today, the network comprises over 3000 artists worldwide who have participated in over 130 workshops in 37 countries since the establishment of the Trust in 1982. Artists in the network benefit from exchange visits, residencies and access to information.
